Broader LGBTIQA+ groups across South Australia. Not all of them are trans-specific, but all have been listed to us as places trans and gender-diverse people are welcome. Grouped roughly by what they're for.

Community hubs and calendars

Bfriend

Bfriend hosts the LGBTIQA+ calendar for South Australia.

Diverse-City

Diverse-City hosts a large number of community groups and events.

The Queer Society

A community-focused not-for-profit organisation offering ongoing support groups, events and community gatherings. Events are statewide, both north and south of the city.

Young people

Queer Youth Drop-In

A regular drop-in space for queer 15–25 year olds to meet, feel safer, and take part in activities planned by and for queer young people.

Gender Dive

A social support group run by headspace Edinburgh North, supporting LGBTIQA+ and questioning people aged 12–25.

BEAM (previously Queer Quest)

Run by headspace Port Adelaide, BEAM is a free social connection group for young people aged 12–17 who identify as LGBTIQA+ or as an ally. A safe and inclusive space to be yourself, meet like-minded people, have fun, and learn a little about looking after your mental health along the way.

Older adults

Catalyst Foundation (over 50s)

Catalyst has been running regular social dinners for the LGBTIQA+ community since 2015, open to all LGBTIQA+ people and their friends, partners and support workers. A great opportunity to connect or re-connect with the community in a safe, friendly and welcoming environment. New people and visitors are always welcome. They also host a regular book club and monthly film screenings.

Rainbow Hub SA

A community-led independent organisation providing a voice for older LGBTI+ people in South Australia, building community through events and information sharing.

Peer support

Alt2Su

Alternatives to Suicide (Alt2Su) peer-led community-based groups centre mutual connection and meaning making around suicide distress, thoughts and experiences. There is an LGBTQIA+ specific group in their calendar.

GayAA

A group providing a safer space for LGBTQIA+ alcoholics to connect, share stories, and seek support.

Adelaide Qwire

A singing group for the Adelaide LGBTQIA+ community.

Ellipsis Poetry

Ellipsis Poetry holds poetry events in Tarntanya, including a spoken word open mic on the second Thursday of the month at Arthur Art Bar, and Poets Take Over! quarterly at Page & Turner.

Adelaide Queer Gamers

We aim to provide a safe space for LGBTQIA+ community members and their allies to play board and tabletop games.

Adelaide Queer Birders

A community of bird enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels who identify as queer or queer allies.

Sport and the outdoors

Light City Roller Derby

Part of the South Australian community since 2011, with a mission to provide an inclusive, welcoming space for everyone to participate in roller derby and have fun.

Adelaide Spectres Basketball

Australia's only fully dedicated Pride Basketball community — fun, vibrant, and proudly LGBTQIA+ inclusive. The Spectres began as the Sydney Spectres, founded in 2001 by seven gay basketballers, and have grown into a national network.

Adelaide University Sharks

Adelaide's gay and inclusive rugby union team, providing the LGBTQIA+ community and allies the opportunity to be part of rugby union. All are welcome regardless of sexuality, age and sporting ability.

Adelaide Dolphins

The first LGBTQIA+ swim team in Adelaide, based at Adelaide Aquatic Centre.

Adelaide Spikers Volleyball Club

Adelaide's first LGBTQIA+ all-inclusive volleyball club.

Adelaide Frontrunners

An international LGBTIQ+ ally running and walking group.

ClimbingQTs

An LGBTQIA+ friendly social club where climbers have the opportunity to mix and socialise.

Rainbow Racquets Adelaide (Squash SA)

Squash SA is working with current squash players from the LGBTQA+ community to show that squash is a game for all, where everybody feels welcome and respected on and off the court.

Moovin Groovin Chap Slicks

Queer-friendly line dancing in Kaurna Yerta (Adelaide), led by volunteer beginner and trans organisers. Everyone is welcome.

Mondays, 6:30pm

Adelaide Happy Wanderers

A social walking group for gay men and their friends, exploring scenic routes around Adelaide on the first Sunday of each month, excluding January and December. Walks typically cover about 5km and take 2–3 hours including breaks.

Rainbow Crows

For anyone who identifies as orientation or gender diverse (and allies) who is also an Adelaide Football Club member or supporter.

Pride of the South

An LGBTIQ network group for the southern communities of Adelaide, creating opportunities for LGBTIQ people to 'come out' and enjoy family-friendly community events held in the south.

Fleurieu Pride

An LGBTIQ+ social group in the Southern Fleurieu, South Australia.

Limestone Coast Queer Community Hub

A community board for LGBTQ+ events, information and collaboration in or around the Limestone Coast. If you're queer or an ally, you can join to share rainbow-friendly events.

18+ groups

Adelaide Leather & Fetish

An 18+ LGBTQIA+ inclusive leather, latex and fetish friendly social group providing monthly social events and an annual five-day fetish event, GEAR'd Adelaide.

SA Pups and Handlers

Working to create a safe space for pups and handlers of all genders and sexualities in SA and Australia, for individuals aged 18 and over only.

Bear Men of Adelaide

Established in 2000 as a social club for LGBTIQ bears and their admirers.

Wrestling for Fun Adelaide

Primarily a gay and bi men's collective, inclusive of all men who enjoy wrestling for fun. Matches are non-sexual and respect the limits and experience of each participant.
